Backhouse, Iden take Karlovy Vary World Cup titles

KARLOVY VARY, CZECH REPUBLIC – Australian Gillian Backhouse and Norwegian Gustav Iden claimed the inaugural titles at the 2017 ITU Karlovy Vary World Cup. Backhouse dominated the race from the beginning to the end, and was followed on the finish line by local star, Vendula Frintova (CZE) and Summer Cooks (USA). In the men’s race, Gustav Iden astonished with a come from behind run that gave him his first ever World Cup win. With him in the podium were Italian Alessandro Fabian and Kiwi Tayler Reid. South African pro athlete James Cunnama smashed the Club La Santa IRONMAN 70.3 race on Saturday 02nd September 2017, slashing almost 17 minutes off the previous record set by Spain’s Eneko Llanos in 2015. MONTREAL – Australian triathlete Ashleigh Gentle became today the first ever winner of the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Montreal, in a brand new circuit that has became the newest addition to the WTS. The win was not only a first for the host city, but was a first for Gentle as she captured her first ever WTS gold.
